Creating a Stressless Postpartum With Assistance

Posted by admin on

Imagine yourself cradling the tiny person you brought home from hospital. It feels as if everything is happening at warp speed. You have a house full of diapers. There are baby cries. And Aunt Marge gives you unasked advice. It’s a bit like trying unicycle-riding while juggling flaming torches. Welcoming you to the Fully Healed Mama postpartum lifestyle! It’s not a show! We should talk about the best way to transform this rollercoaster in a merrygoround.

Let’s start by discussing sleep, or rather the lack of it. Babies have an uncanny way of turning night into the day. They are like little nocturnal beasts that have missed out on the human sleeping pattern. Here is where having an additional pair of hand comes in handy. Sleep is essential to your mental health.

We’re now moving on to food, which is what keeps us going after coffee no longer works. If cooking feels like Everest, why not befriend your freezer? Meals prepared before the baby is born can be a great lifesaver. Or even better, get your friends and relatives to drop off meals over the course of those first weeks. You will have less to do.

Remember that emotional support is as important as diapers. The transition to parenthood is not always easy, even with the support of loved ones. Having someone you can vent to, whether it is your best friend or even an online group of moms, can make a huge difference.

You have chores? How about those dishes that seem to be piling on like Mount Laundry! No worries! Here is where you get to be resourceful (and possibly even lazy). Hire cleaning help, or get family members to help! Even if you aren’t happy with the results (looking at your mismatched socks), don’t worry.

What about the importance of self-care in today’s world? Do you know that elusive unicorn, the one everyone wants to see but can’t seem to find? While sneaking in a moment for yourself amongst diaper changes and feed schedules may seem absurd, listen up! While grandma holds your baby, a quick bath or quiet tea can help recharge your batteries.

Keep in mind that every mother’s experience will be different. Remember, babies don’t come equipped with instruction manuals. Some moms love structure and others ride the waves with a more relaxed approach.

A little humor goes a long way when it comes to dealing with newborn chaos. If you can laugh at the silly mistakes that parents make, they will become memorable stories in the future.

It’s okay to be a little worried, but this phase will go by faster than you think. We’ve experienced it ourselves! The early days will pass more quickly if you are patient, and yes–with a little help from outside.
